South African President Cyril Ramaphosa arrived in Sri Lanka for a short visit yesterday (16) after attending the G20 Summit. He met with President Ranil Wickremesinghe at the Katunayake Air Force base for discussions on bilateral issues.
Sri Lanka High Commission in South Africa participated in the Courtney International Day held in Pretoria on 29 October 2022. International Organizations such as PEN Charity together with missions of other countries including New Zealand, Malaysia, Tunisia, South Africa, Argentina, Ukraine, Lesotho, Ethiopia and Malawi also participated in the event. Around 400 Pretoria and Johannesburg area residents and diplomats attended the event.

The staff of the Sri Lanka Mission in Pretoria, South Africa together with Sri Lankans in Johannesburg area participated in the 2022 Vesak celebrations, by special invitation of the Thai Buddhist Temple - Johannesburg Meditation Center (JMC) in Midrand, South Africa., on May 15, 2022. The theme of the event was religious harmony among multiple faiths. They commemorated the birth, enlighten and the passing away of Lord Buddha who taught the vision of internal reconciliation of human.
The Chief Monk of JMC, Rev. Kitsakol, conducted the religious ceremonies and delivered blessings of Vesak to those gathered. He highlighted the universal applicability of Buddha’s preaching based on the four noble truths and extended Vesak blessings to people of all religions in the world.
